The Seventh Trumpet: The World's Kingdom Becomes God's Kingdom
Revelation 11:15–19 sounds the seventh trumpet and announces that the kingdoms of this world have become the kingdom of the Lord and of His Christ. Heavenly worship celebrates God’s reign and coming judgment, while the opened heavenly temple reveals the ark of the covenant. The passage joins kingdom consummation, covenant presence, reward, and judgment in one climactic trumpet scene.
Obadiah’s “the kingdom shall be the LORD’s” participates in the canonical trajectory that culminates in Revelation’s announcement that the world’s kingdom has become the kingdom of the Lord and of his Christ.
Daniel's indestructible divine kingdom reaches canonical climax in Revelation's announcement that the world's kingdom belongs to the Lord and his Christ.
Daniel's everlasting kingdom given to the Son of Man and saints strongly informs Revelation 11:15's everlasting reign.
Hebrews locates Christ’s priestly appearing “in the presence of God for us” in the true heavenly reality, while Revelation 11:19 opens the heavenly temple and reveals the ark of the covenant. Both texts place covenant/access imagery in God’s heavenly presence.
Revelation 11:15 strongly echoes Psalm 2’s “LORD and his anointed” royal language when heaven announces the kingdom of the Lord and of his Christ. The wording and wider conflict-over-kingship context make Psalm 2 a major source field for Revelation’s kingdom proclamation.
Revelation 11:18’s “nations were angry” strongly echoes Psalm 2:1’s raging nations and places apocalyptic rebellion inside the same scriptural pattern of resistance to divine kingship. Revelation then carries that rebellion toward final judgment and kingdom consummation.
Revelation 11:18’s wrath-and-nations sequence probably continues Psalm 2’s rebellion-and-judgment pattern: the nations rage, then divine wrath answers their resistance. The verbal link is less exact than Revelation’s use of Psalm 2:1–2, but the contextual reuse remains strong.
Revelation 11:15 probably echoes Psalm 22:28’s declaration that the kingdom belongs to the LORD and that he rules over the nations. The verbal overlap is limited, but the universal-kingship and eschatological setting make the Psalm a meaningful background text.
Revelation 11:18’s reference to “those that fear thy name” probably echoes Psalm 61:5’s language about the heritage of those who fear God’s name. The relationship is meaningful but likely participates in a broader psalmic source field rather than depending on one verse alone.
Revelation 11:18 probably echoes Psalm 115:13’s blessing of those who fear the LORD, “both small and great.” The combination of fear-language and the “small and great” pair is distinctive enough to support a probable allusion within Revelation’s judgment-and-reward scene.
Zechariah’s vision of the LORD as king over all the earth contributes to Revelation’s consummated kingdom of the Lord and his Christ.
