Let the King Abide before God Forever
The prayer moves from the individual worshiper to the king, asking for prolonged days, generations, and abiding before God. Mercy and truth are asked to preserve the king. The language participates in the Psalter’s larger royal hope.
The manuscript cites Hebrews 1:8 as though Psalm 61 itself were the “throne forever” text applied to Christ. Hebrews 1:8 actually quotes Psalm 45. Psalm 61 still contributes to the canonical expectation of enduring Davidic rule, but that is a trajectory, not an explicit quotation.
