Possession Restored — The Kingdom Is the LORD’s
Obadiah ends by reversing dispossession. Israelite and Judean exiles are pictured repossessing territories in every direction, deliverers ascend Mount Zion to judge Mount Esau, and the final line lifts the book above Edom: “the kingdom shall be the LORD’s.” The book that began with a proud nation asking who could bring it down ends with YHWH as the true king.
Where this fits in the story: Land, exile, return, Zion, and kingdom converge here. The names Jacob and Joseph also pull the divided people of Israel back into one restoration horizon.
