The heavenly command to “hear him” beside Moses strongly recalls Deuteronomy’s command to hear the prophet like Moses; Acts 3 later quotes Deuteronomy 18 explicitly, strengthening the Luke-Acts trajectory.

Torah and prophets warn that signs or prophetic claims do not automatically validate a messenger; allegiance, truth, and fruit matter. This is important for Matthew 7:21-23, where charismatic deeds in Jesus' name do not substitute for doing the Father's will.

The Father’s command “hear ye him” at the Transfiguration strongly recalls Deuteronomy’s promise that Israel must listen to the coming prophet like Moses, a connection later made explicit in Acts.

John’s delegation asks whether John the Baptist is “that prophet,” reflecting a recognized expectation rooted in Deuteronomy 18’s promise that God would raise up a prophet like Moses.

After the feeding sign, the crowd identifies Jesus as “that prophet that should come into the world,” strongly invoking the Deuteronomy 18 expectation of a prophet like Moses. The feeding scene also strengthens the Moses-like setting.

Some hearers in John 7 identify Jesus as “the Prophet,” continuing the recognized Deuteronomy 18 expectation even amid disagreement over Jesus’ identity. The Gospel presents the expectation as live and contested.

Peter directly quotes the prophet-like-Moses promise and applies it to Jesus, while Acts 3:23 appears to blend Deuteronomy with additional covenant-sanction language rather than deriving every word from one verse.

Stephen explicitly quotes Moses’ promise that God would raise up a prophet like him, using Deuteronomy 18 inside a speech whose larger argument points toward Jesus. The quotation is explicit and central to Stephen’s argument.

Deuteronomy requires prophetic claims to be tested rather than accepted merely because someone speaks in God’s name; Paul likewise says not to despise prophecies but to test everything and hold fast what is good.

Nehemiah rejects a fear-driven prophetic message and concludes the speaker was not sent by God, fitting Torah’s insistence that claimed prophetic authority must be tested rather than obeyed automatically.

Acts 3 explicitly quotes Deuteronomy 18’s prophet-like-Moses promise and applies it to Jesus, making this one of Deuteronomy’s clearest inspired Christological connections. Peter presents the promise as fulfilled in Jesus.
