The Transfiguration: The Beloved Son in Glory
Jesus is transfigured on a high mountain, his face shining and clothing becoming white, while Moses and Elijah appear. A bright cloud overshadows them and the heavenly voice repeats the beloved-Son declaration, adding: “hear ye him.”
Where this fits in the story: Sinai, divine cloud, radiant glory, Moses, Elijah, Psalm 2, Isaiah 42, and Deuteronomy’s prophet-like-Moses expectation all converge without needing every detail to be assigned a one-to-one symbol.
Where Scripture takes it next: 2 Peter explicitly recalls witnessing Jesus’ majesty and the heavenly voice on the holy mount.
