Return to Me: Tithes, Covenant Curse, and Overflowing Blessing
The Lord’s unchanging covenant faithfulness explains why the sons of Jacob have not been consumed. The problem is not that God has abandoned them; they have turned aside. “Return unto me, and I will return unto you” becomes the center of the appeal, and neglected tithes and offerings are the concrete test case.
Where this fits in the story: Torah assigns tithes to support worship, Levites, festivals, and vulnerable people. Nehemiah 10 and 13 show the restored community wrestling with the same temple-support problem. Malachi’s curse-and-blessing language also belongs to the covenant world of Deuteronomy.
