Tobiah's Chamber and the Neglected Levites
While Nehemiah has been away, Eliashib the priest has given Tobiah a large room within the temple complex—space previously used to store offerings, tithes, and sacred supplies. Nehemiah throws Tobiah's household goods out, orders the rooms cleansed, and restores their proper use. He then discovers that Levites have not received their portions and have returned to their fields, directly violating the covenant commitment of chapter 10. This scene produces a striking narrative parallel with Jesus' later temple cleansing, but Nehemiah is not thereby an explicit prophecy of Jesus. The responsible classification is mirroring within a wider temple-holiness trajectory.
