Ephesians calls believers members of God’s household and a holy temple; 1 Timothy calls the church the household of God and pillar/support of the truth.

Ephesians develops the Jew-Gentile unity announced in Galatians by describing both groups as one new humanity and one household through Christ.

Paul develops temple imagery into a multiethnic people being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit, extending the presence theme beyond Solomon’s stone sanctuary.

Ruth the Moabite leaves her former people, binds herself to Israel and Israel’s God, and is ultimately received into Israel’s household and messianic line. Ephesians describes Gentiles once alienated from Israel’s covenants being brought near in Christ and made fellow citizens in God’s household. Ruth is a powerful earlier narrative mirror of that nations-coming-near trajectory.

Solomon is presented as the Davidic son of peace who builds God’s house; Ephesians presents Christ as the one who makes peace and in whom Jews and Gentiles are built together into God’s dwelling. The relationship is a meaningful typological/thematic pattern, but the New Testament never explicitly identifies Solomon as a type of Christ.

Ezra’s rebuilt temple is a genuine restoration of Israel’s worshiping life, while Ephesians later describes Jews and Gentiles together as a holy temple and dwelling of God in the Spirit. The connection traces temple theology from restored sacred building toward a people joined in Christ without treating Ezra as a direct prediction.

Isaiah’s tested cornerstone in Zion develops into Christ as the cornerstone of God’s new temple people.

Ezekiel’s everlasting covenant and promise that God’s sanctuary/dwelling will be among his people develops toward Ephesians’ Spirit-built dwelling.

Zechariah joins the nations coming to the LORD with the LORD dwelling in their midst; Ephesians joins Gentile inclusion with God’s Spirit-built dwelling. Zechariah combines nations joining the LORD with the LORD dwelling among his people, the same two motifs Ephesians joins in one temple passage.

Ephesians’ people-as-God’s-dwelling trajectory reaches final consummation in Revelation, where God dwells with humanity.

Ephesians’ holy-temple people point canonically toward New Jerusalem, where the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple.

Romans 11 and Ephesians 2 both place Gentile believers inside Israel-shaped covenant history while preserving strong warnings against boasting and emphasizing unity in Christ. Romans 11 and Ephesians 2 jointly establish Gentile incorporation without Gentile boasting.
