Elders, Resident Foreigners, Honest Measures, and Exodus Identity
The same chapter that says “love your neighbor as yourself” later says to love the resident foreigner as yourself. Leviticus itself expands what holy love looks like at the community boundary.
Where this fits in the story: Exodus identity is explicit in the chapter: Israel knows what it is to live as a resident foreigner in Egypt.
Where Scripture takes it next: Jesus' neighbor-love use of 19:18 is strengthened by 19:34's parallel “love him as yourself” command toward the resident foreigner; nevertheless Jesus does not quote 19:34 directly in the great-commandment scene.
