Burnt Offering from the Herd
The New Testament does not reveal Jesus by decoding every knife-cut in Leviticus 1. It reveals him by reusing the big sacrificial vocabulary—offering, sacrifice, unblemished life, pleasing aroma, and once-for-all self-giving.
Where this fits in the story: Genesis 8:20–21 — very strong verbal/canonical background. Noah offers burnt offerings and YHWH receives the pleasing aroma; Leviticus formalizes the offering type and repeats the aroma language.
Where Scripture takes it next: Hebrews 10:1–14 — very strong inspired interpretation. Hebrews explicitly discusses sacrifices and burnt offerings within a repeated system and contrasts them with Christ's once-for-all self-offering.
