The Great Supper of God and the Beast's Defeat
Revelation 19:17–21 contrasts the marriage supper of the Lamb with a grim “supper of the great God” in which birds consume the defeated enemies of God. The imagery draws strongly from Ezekiel’s oracle against Gog. The beast and false prophet are cast into the lake of fire, while the assembled armies are decisively defeated by the word-like sword proceeding from Christ.
Revelation's summons of birds to feast on defeated armies directly reworks Ezekiel 39's Gog judgment feast.
The beast's fiery destruction in Revelation 19 reaches back to Daniel 7's beast destroyed and given to burning flame.
Revelation culminates the returning-warrior scene in Christ, the Faithful and True rider who judges and defeats hostile powers. This is where the canonical trajectory of 2 Thessalonians 1 visibly leads.
Paul says Jesus destroys the lawless one at his appearing; Revelation portrays the returning Christ defeating beastly opposition, with judgment issuing from his mouth and the beast defeated.
