1 Kings explicitly says God gave Solomon extraordinary wisdom and that Solomon spoke three thousand proverbs; Proverbs identifies its opening collection with Solomon son of David, king of Israel.

Job 28:28 and Proverbs 1:7 join wisdom to the fear of the LORD. Job adds “to depart from evil is understanding,” while Proverbs calls fear of the LORD the beginning of knowledge. Together they show that biblical wisdom is fundamentally moral and God-centered rather than merely intellectual skill.

Psalm 111:10 says the fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, while Proverbs 1:7 says the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge. The shared formulation reveals a foundational wisdom conviction: true understanding begins with rightly ordered reverence before God.

Proverbs identifies itself with Solomon’s wisdom tradition; Jesus says the queen of the south came to hear the wisdom of Solomon and declares that one greater than Solomon is present.

Proverbs belongs to the Solomonic wisdom tradition; Jesus explicitly refers to the queen of the south coming to hear Solomon’s wisdom and then declares that one greater than Solomon is present. The New Testament reference establishes a direct wisdom-to-Christ comparison.
