Scripture also places this passage inside a wider canonical network. Malachi explicitly commands Israel to remember the law given to Moses at Horeb, directly recalling the covenant revelation and statutes associated with Horeb in Deuteronomy. Agur says every word of God is pure and warns not to add to his words; Deuteronomy directly commands Israel not to add to or diminish from God’s command. Deuteronomy presents obedience to God’s statutes as Israel’s wisdom before the nations; Proverbs opens by defining its purpose as learning wisdom, justice, judgment, and equity under the fear of the LORD.

The key reading question is therefore not simply, “What rule or event appears here?” but, “What does this movement teach Israel about the LORD, covenant loyalty, life in the land, and the consequences of trusting or resisting His word?”
