I Am with You: The Spirit Stirred
This is one of the Bible’s unusually quick prophetic-response scenes. Zerubbabel, Joshua, and “all the remnant” obey; the people fear the LORD; Haggai answers with the compact promise “I am with you”; and the LORD stirs the spirit of leaders and people so that they begin work. The restoration is both human obedience and divine enabling.
Where this fits in the story: Ezra 1:1–5 says the LORD first stirred the spirit of Cyrus and then the returning heads of families, priests, and Levites so that the house of the LORD could be rebuilt. Haggai deliberately sounds like the same restoration story starting again: after the work has stalled, the LORD again stirs spirits—now Zerubbabel, Joshua, and the remnant—to resume it.
