Ready for Every Good Work in Public Life
Titus turns from households to public life: believers are to remember their obligations toward rulers and authorities, be ready for every good work, avoid slander and fighting, and show gentleness toward all people.
Where this fits in the story: Romans 13 and 1 Peter 2 also instruct Christians living under non-Christian government. None of these texts makes every command of every ruler righteous; they establish a normal posture of ordered, peaceable public conduct under God’s higher authority.
