Arrest, Angelic Release, and Obedience to God
Acts 5:17–32 centers on arrest, angelic release, and obedience to god. The high priestly party arrests the apostles, but an angel opens the prison and tells them to speak 'all the words of this life' in the temple. Rearrested without violence, they insist that obedience to God outranks human commands and summarize Jesus as killed, raised, exalted Prince and Savior, giver of repentance and forgiveness.
The wider biblical story comes into focus here. Exodus-like deliverance, angelic rescue, temple witness, and rejected-then-exalted Savior themes converge. The Holy Spirit is named as witness alongside the apostles, showing that mission is both human testimony and divine testimony.
