Remember the Law of Moses at Horeb
Before Malachi names Elijah, he names Moses. Israel is told to remember the law given through God’s servant at Horeb—the statutes and judgments for all Israel. The prophetic collection closes by turning the reader back toward Torah.
Where this fits in the story: Horeb/Sinai is the covenant mountain of Exodus and Deuteronomy. “Remember” is not mere recollection; it is covenant loyalty expressed in hearing and obeying what God commanded.
Canonical Aha: in the common Christian ordering of the Old Testament, the final verses place Moses and Elijah side by side. In the Gospels, Moses and Elijah later appear together with Jesus at the transfiguration. That is a striking canonical resonance, though the transfiguration narratives do not explicitly say they are fulfilling Malachi 4:4–5.
