Jerusalem Surrounded: Days of Vengeance and the Times of the Gentiles
Jesus becomes unusually concrete: when Jerusalem is surrounded by armies, those in Judea should flee, because days of vengeance and severe distress are coming. People will fall, be led captive, and Jerusalem will be trodden by Gentiles until their times are fulfilled.
Where this fits in the story: covenant judgment, exile, Jerusalem’s prophetic history, and Gentile domination converge. The Roman destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple in AD 70 provides a very strong historical horizon for this wording.
