The Temple Confrontation: House of Prayer and Den of Robbers
Jesus enters the temple, drives out those selling, and joins Isaiah’s “house of prayer” language with Jeremiah’s “den of robbers” accusation. He then teaches there daily while leaders seek his death.
Where this fits in the story: the prophets repeatedly confronted worship that retained sacred buildings while violating covenant faithfulness. Jesus’ action stands inside that prophetic temple-judgment tradition.
Luke’s journey has now reached its destination. The temple becomes the stage where royal authority, prophetic confrontation, teaching, rejection, and eventually the transition to a new phase of God’s presence story come together.
