Jeremiah 7:11
Jeremiah stands at the temple gate and attacks a dangerous slogan: possessing “the temple of the LORD” does not make an unjust people safe. True amendment requires justice for neighbor, stranger, fatherless, and widow and turning from bloodshed and idolatry. Shiloh becomes the historical warning that sacred space does not immunize rebellion from judgment.
Jesus combines Isaiah's 'house of prayer' vision with Jeremiah's 'den of robbers' temple sermon, making the temple action a prophetic sign of both intended vocation and corrupt/judged practice.
