Genesis says Abram believed the LORD and it was counted to him for righteousness. Romans quotes that sentence directly and makes it central to Paul’s discussion of Abraham, faith, and righteousness.

James directly quotes Genesis 15:6 while discussing Abraham’s later obedience, using the same patriarchal text to show that genuine faith becomes visible in action. The quotation is explicit Scripture-to-Scripture interpretation, though James’s argumentative emphasis differs from Paul’s.

Galatians 3:6 directly quotes Genesis 15:6 and makes Abraham’s believing response central to Paul’s argument that righteousness and participation in Abrahamic blessing are tied to faith rather than merely to descent or later law.

God tells childless Abram to look at the stars and promises, “So shall thy seed be.” Romans quotes that promise directly while explaining Abraham’s hope and faith in a situation that looked humanly impossible.

Genesis 15 tells Abram to count the stars and promises, “So shall thy seed be.” After the binding of Isaac, Genesis 22 reaffirms the promise and again compares Abraham’s seed to the stars of heaven. The later scene directly develops and repeats the earlier visual promise.

Genesis 15:6 and Habakkuk 2:4 both connect righteousness with the Hebrew faith/trust word family, creating a possible lexical and theological resonance. Habakkuk never cites Genesis 15, so literary dependence remains disputed rather than certain.

James directly quotes Genesis 15:6 and places Abraham’s counted righteousness beside his later obedient offering of Isaac, using the patriarch’s story to show that genuine faith is living, active, and brought to maturity in action.

Galatians 3:6 directly quotes Genesis 15:6 and makes Abraham’s believing response central to Paul’s argument that righteousness and participation in Abrahamic blessing are tied to faith rather than merely to fleshly descent or later law.

Nehemiah 9 explicitly retells God choosing Abram, bringing him from Ur, changing his name, finding him faithful, and making covenant promises concerning the land. The prayer compresses Genesis’s Abraham story into a confession of God’s covenant faithfulness.
