Proverbs exposes the costly consequences of sexual folly; Paul commands believers to flee sexual immorality and remember that the body belongs to God.

Proverbs urges the hearer not to turn the heart toward the seductress whose house leads to death; Paul commands believers to flee sexual immorality and honor God with the body.

First Corinthians 6 directly quotes Genesis 2:24—“they two shall be one flesh”—to show that sexual union creates a real bodily bond. Paul applies the creation text ethically to sexual immorality without redefining Genesis’s original marriage setting.

Paul uses temple language both for the gathered Corinthian community and for the individual believer’s body, so the two uses should be read together without collapsing them.
