First Corinthians 3:20 directly quotes Psalm 94:11—“The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain”—as part of Paul’s argument against boasting in merely human wisdom. The Psalm becomes explicit scriptural support for God’s judgment of worldly cleverness.

Paul explicitly quotes Job 5:13—God “taketh the wise in their own craftiness”—and uses the line to overturn boasting in merely human wisdom. This is direct New Testament reuse of Job, introduced by “it is written,” and therefore belongs at the highest evidence level.

Paul uses temple language both for the gathered Corinthian community and for the individual believer’s body, so the two uses should be read together without collapsing them.
