The Unknown God, Creation, Repentance, and Resurrection
Acts 17:22–34 centers on the unknown god, creation, repentance, and resurrection. Paul begins from Athenian religiosity and an altar 'TO THE UNKNOWN GOD,' then proclaims the Creator who made the world, does not dwell in temples made by hands, gives life to all, made all nations, and is near enough to be sought. He quotes Greek poetic language, rejects manufactured images of deity, commands repentance, and announces a fixed judgment through a man authenticated by resurrection. Responses divide.
