Solomon’s Request to Hiram King of Tyre
2 Chronicles 2:3–10 forms the movement “Solomon’s Request to Hiram King of Tyre.” Solomon sent word to Hiram, king of Tyre, requesting skilled craftsmen and cedar, juniper, and algum logs from Lebanon. He acknowledged that the temple was not for man but for the Lord God, who is greater than all gods, and declared that no building could contain Him. Solomon promised to provide abundant provisions of food for Hiram’s servants in exchange for their labor.
In the book’s larger argument, Temple preparation joins royal administration, Gentile craftsmanship, and Solomon’s confession that even the greatest house cannot contain Israel’s God.
