The Son Gives Life and Executes Judgment
Jesus answers the equality charge by describing an inseparable Father-Son relationship: the Son does what he sees the Father doing, gives life as the Father gives life, and receives authority to execute judgment. The claim reaches an extraordinary climax when the dead hear the Son’s voice and rise—some to life, some to judgment—language that strongly develops Daniel 12’s resurrection horizon. Jesus does not present himself as an independent rival deity; the Son’s authority comes from and perfectly expresses the Father. Honoring the Son is therefore bound to honoring the Father who sent him.
