Behold Your King: Humble, Riding on a Donkey, Ruling to the Ends of the Earth
Zion is commanded to rejoice because her king comes righteous and bringing salvation/victory, humble and riding on a donkey, on a colt. Yet this is not a weak king. He removes war-chariots and battle bows, speaks peace to the nations, and rules from sea to sea and to the ends of the earth. Humility and universal kingship sit in the same two-verse portrait.
Where Scripture takes it next: Matthew 21:4–5 and John 12:14–15 explicitly cite Zechariah 9:9 in the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. That makes the Jesus connection inspired interpretation, not merely later Christian imagination. Mark and Luke narrate the same royal-entry event.
