The first trumpet’s hail and fire mixed with blood deliberately reuses the Exodus hail-plague tradition while intensifying it within Revelation’s judgment sequence. The imagery signals that the God who judged Egypt remains sovereign over oppressive and rebellious powers in the apocalyptic vision.

Paul directly quotes God’s words to Pharaoh, explaining that Pharaoh was raised up so God’s power would be displayed and His name proclaimed throughout the earth. Romans therefore makes explicit inspired use of the Exodus plague narrative.

The seventh bowl culminates in enormous hail falling on humanity, strongly recalling and intensifying the Exodus hail plague. Revelation places the image inside a final-judgment scene far larger than Pharaoh’s Egypt, using a familiar plague motif to portray divine judgment on rebellious power.

Joshua 10 portrays unusually destructive hailstones under God’s control, echoing the Exodus hail plague in which YHWH used hail as an instrument of judgment against Egypt. Joshua emphasizes that more enemies died from the hail than from Israel’s sword, underscoring divine agency in the battle.
