First Trumpet: Hail and Fire
Revelation 8:7 sounds the first trumpet: hail and fire mingled with blood are cast upon the earth, burning a third of the trees and all green grass. The imagery strongly recalls the Exodus plagues, especially hail and fire, while Revelation intensifies the scene into an end-time judgment pattern. The Exodus background helps frame the trumpets as acts of divine judgment and deliverance.
Revelation 8:7–12 sounds the first four trumpets against earth, sea, fresh water, and heavenly lights. The judgments echo several Exodus plagues while also drawing on prophetic cosmic-judgment language. Repeated limitation to a “third” shows devastating but not yet total judgment, leaving the narrative poised for the more personal woes that follow.
