Hezekiah’s Reform and Trust
Hezekiah removes high places, destroys Nehushtan, trusts the LORD uniquely, and resists Assyria. Hezekiah is introduced as an unusually faithful Davidic king who removes high places and even destroys the bronze serpent when it becomes an idol. The chapter then places that trust under immense pressure as Sennacherib’s Assyrian forces invade Judah and the Rabshakeh publicly challenges confidence in the LORD.
