This Journey studies Genesis 1:6–13, one passage within Genesis 1. The numbers here describe this passage, not all 31 verses of the chapter. Blue counts Scripture connections; Yellow navigation counts connections with supporting evidence (with separate Bible studies below); Red counts research topics, which are different from Scripture connections.
Waters, Dry Land, and Fruitfulness — Creation Ordered for Life
God separates the waters, reveals dry land, and provides plants for life. The Flood later reverses that habitable order; Genesis 8 describes its restoration as waters retreat and the earth becomes fruitful again.
Psalm 104 turns this creation pattern into praise for God’s continuing care. Second Peter 3 joins creation and Flood in an argument about God’s word and future judgment.
Genesis 8 reverses the Flood by restoring the ordered world of Genesis 1: waters recede, dry ground reappears, creatures emerge, and the rhythms of seedtime, harvest, seasons, day, and night are reaffirmed.
Psalm 104 poetically develops Genesis 1’s Day 3 world: waters receive boundaries, dry land stands, and God causes vegetation to grow and sustain life.
Genesis 7 describes the Flood as creation order breaking apart: the “great deep” bursts open and the windows of heaven release waters into the habitable world.
Second Peter 3:5 reaches back to the ancient heavens, the earth in relation to water, and God’s word before immediately recalling the Flood. The sequence closely follows Genesis creation and Flood history.
Nehemiah 9:6 begins Israel’s covenant prayer by confessing the LORD alone as Maker of heaven, earth, the seas, and everything in them—an inspired summary of Genesis 1 creation faith.
In Acts 17 Paul proclaims the one God who made the world, is Lord of heaven and earth, gives life to all, and made the whole human family. His argument stands squarely in Genesis 1’s Creator-and-humanity horizon.

Red investigates ancient written witnesses, historical interpretation, archaeology and material culture where evidence exists, documented scholarship, and competing historical or physical explanations. The Scripture interpretation, Hebrew/Greek word studies, “Why This Matters,” and Test the Tradition are taught in Yellow instead. Ancient comparisons illuminate reception and context; they cannot independently prove Genesis’s creation events.
