Lights for Signs, Seasons, Days, and Years
The sun, moon, and stars are God’s creations, appointed to give light and mark time. Psalm 136:7–9 echoes their creation and their rule over day and night, turning the account into praise for God’s enduring mercy.
The connection is straightforward: the lights belong to the created order and serve the purposes God assigns them. Later biblical passages reuse the imagery of heavenly lights in praise, prophecy, and the Bible’s final vision of God’s glory.
