The End Is at Hand: Prayer, Love, Hospitality, and Stewarded Grace
Peter’s response to “the end of all things is at hand” is strikingly practical: sober prayer, fervent love, ungrudging hospitality, and faithful use of gifts. Love “covers a multitude of sins,” echoing Proverbs 10:12, while every gift makes its recipient a steward of God’s many-sided grace. Speech is to honor God’s words; service is to rely on strength God supplies. Eschatology therefore produces neither panic nor date-setting. It produces a praying, loving, hospitable, serving community in which God is glorified through Jesus Christ.
