Chosen Exiles: Father, Spirit, and the Blood of Jesus
Peter addresses believers spread across five regions of Asia Minor as both chosen and displaced: their social location may be scattered, but their deepest identity is grounded in God. The greeting gathers Father, Spirit, and Jesus Christ into one compact saving movement—foreknowledge, sanctification, obedience, and sprinkling of blood. The language of dispersion and sprinkling opens the letter by placing these Christians inside Israel-shaped categories while centering their belonging in Jesus Christ. The letter will repeatedly turn apparent marginality into a vocation: they are strangers in the world because they belong to God.
