Joseph Sent Ahead; Israel Multiplies in Egypt
Famine, Joseph’s suffering and exaltation, and Israel’s growth in Egypt are remembered as events under God’s providential direction. Christian typology has often seen Joseph as a pattern resembling rejection followed by exaltation, but Acts 7 recounts Joseph primarily as Israel’s history rather than formally declaring him a type of Christ. The reader should therefore distinguish devotional typology from explicit inspired interpretation.
