Treasures of Wisdom in Christ
Paul wants the believers in Colossae and Laodicea to know how deeply he struggles for them even though many have not seen him face to face. His aim is that their hearts be encouraged, knit together in love, and brought to a settled understanding of God’s mystery, Christ. In Christ are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. That claim prepares for the warning against persuasive but deceptive arguments.
Where this fits in the story: biblical wisdom is never merely information; it is tied to fearing God, walking faithfully, and ultimately to God’s self-revelation. Colossians concentrates wisdom and knowledge in Christ rather than in a spiritual elite or secret system.
