Solomon’s Request for Wisdom
2 Chronicles 1:7–12 forms the movement “Solomon’s Request for Wisdom.” That night God appeared to Solomon and invited him to ask for whatever he desired. Solomon humbly asked for wisdom and knowledge to govern God’s people faithfully. Pleased with his request, God granted him wisdom along with riches, wealth, and honor, greater than any king before or after him. This moment demonstrates that true greatness lies not in power or wealth but in the fear of the Lord and the pursuit of wisdom (Proverbs 9:10).
In the book’s larger argument, Solomon’s reign begins with worship, wisdom, and royal abundance; the chapter sets up the question of what a Davidic king will do with God-given strength.
