2 Kings 4:18–37
Hospitality is rewarded with a promised son, then grief becomes life when Elisha prays and the child is restored. The focus narrows from kings and armies to vulnerable households and prophetic communities. These stories show the LORD providing oil, restoring a dead child, neutralizing dangerous food, and multiplying bread—patterns that later help readers recognize both continuity and escalation in Jesus’ ministry.
Elisha’s restoration of the Shunammite woman’s son supplies a second major prophetic raising-of-a-child pattern. The geographical proximity of ancient Shunem and Nain is suggestive context, not evidence that Luke deliberately chose Nain for that reason.

The New Testament does not name her, so the identification is a strong inference rather than a mechanically explicit reference, and that caution should remain visible.
