Jairus’ Only Daughter Is Called Back to Life
Before Jesus reaches Jairus’s house, news arrives that the girl has died. Jesus tells Jairus not to fear but to believe, takes the child by the hand, calls her to rise, and her spirit returns. The parents are astonished; Jesus orders that she be given food.
Where this fits in the story: Luke has already shown Jesus restoring the widow’s son at Nain. These scenes build a death-to-life trajectory that will culminate not merely in another resuscitation but in Jesus’ own resurrection.
