Strive to Enter: The Narrow Door and the Kingdom Banquet
Asked whether few will be saved, Jesus redirects the question toward the hearer: strive to enter through the narrow door. Mere proximity—eating and drinking in Jesus’ presence—is not the same as known allegiance. The scene ends with people coming from every direction to sit in God’s kingdom.
Where this fits in the story: patriarchal banquet imagery and prophetic ingathering combine with reversal—some expected insiders are outside, while unexpected people arrive from east, west, north, and south.
