Look North, South, East, and West — Land and Seed Reaffirmed
After Lot separates from Abram, Genesis 13:14–18 expands the Abrahamic promise. God tells Abram to lift up his eyes in every direction and promises the land to him and his seed. He also compares Abram’s descendants to the dust of the earth and tells him to walk through the land. Abram still owns almost none of it; the promise grows while visible possession remains small.
Later Scripture explicitly remembers this land promise. Deuteronomy 34 shows Moses the land and identifies it as the land God swore to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob to give to their seed. Acts 7 likewise retells the tension: God promised Abraham the land even though Abraham initially had no inheritance in it. These later texts show that the promise in Genesis 13 remains a live thread across Israel’s story.
