The Priests and Levites Support Rehoboam
2 Chronicles 11:13–17 forms the movement “The Priests and Levites Support Rehoboam.” The priests and Levites from all Israel came to Judah, abandoning their lands and possessions, because Jeroboam had rejected them and appointed his own priests for idol worship. They strengthened the kingdom of Judah, supporting Rehoboam for three years as he walked in the ways of David and Solomon. This faithfulness to true worship demonstrates the priority of loyalty to God above earthly security.
In the book’s larger argument, Judah is strengthened by obedience, true priestly worship, and migration away from northern apostasy, while Rehoboam’s household politics reveal continuing compromise.
