By the Blood of the Covenant: Prisoners of Hope Restored
The oracle turns from the king to prisoners: ‘by the blood of thy covenant I have sent forth thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.’ Prisoners of hope are told to return to the stronghold because God will restore double. Judah and Ephraim become weapons in God’s hand against hostile power, and the LORD appears over his people in stormlike divine-warrior imagery. The scene ends not in grim militarism but in abundance: grain makes the young flourish and new wine the maidens.
