Jeremiah 51:9 — Babylon’s Judgment Reaches Heaven
Jeremiah gathers a dense cluster of images around Babylon’s fall. Babylon has been a golden cup intoxicating the nations, but its own judgment comes suddenly; God tells His people to flee and remember Jerusalem. The LORD is Creator, unlike idols, and He can use nations as instruments before making proud Babylon a burnt and ruined mountain.
Jeremiah says Babylon’s judgment reaches heaven; Revelation says Babylon’s sins reach heaven and God remembers her iniquities.
