Micah Remembered; Uriah Killed; Jeremiah Preserved
Officials and elders argue that Jeremiah should not die, recalling how Micah once announced Zion’s destruction and Hezekiah responded with fear of the LORD. The chapter then refuses a simplistic happy ending: another prophet, Uriah, is extradited from Egypt and killed by Jehoiakim. Jeremiah survives because Ahikam son of Shaphan protects him.
