The Lamb’s and Father’s Name on Their Foreheads
Revelation 14:1 answers the beast’s mark with the Lamb standing on Mount Zion and 144,000 bearing His Father’s name in their foreheads. Revelation sets two rival marks before the reader: belonging to the beast or belonging to God and the Lamb. The scene emphasizes identity, loyalty, and divine ownership before the final harvest judgments unfold.
The servants sealed in chapter 7 reappear with the Lamb’s and Father’s names on their foreheads.
The divine name on the redeemed forehead fulfills the positive allegiance pattern behind Ezekiel's protective mark and contrasts the beast's mark.
Revelation’s Lamb standing on Mount Zion strongly develops Psalm 2’s picture of God installing his king on Zion. The scene places the Lamb inside the royal-messianic geography of the psalm and contributes to Revelation’s repeated use of Psalm 2 for Christ’s authority.
