Three Frog-Like Unclean Spirits
Revelation 16:12–16 pours the sixth bowl on the Euphrates, prepares the way for kings from the east, and shows demonic spirits gathering the kings of the world for battle. Into that scene Christ warns, “Behold, I come as a thief,” calling His people to watchfulness. The section ends with the gathering at Armageddon, leaving the actual battle for later visions.
Revelation 16:13 sees three unclean spirits like frogs coming from the dragon, beast, and false prophet. Frog imagery recalls Egypt’s plague, while Revelation explicitly interprets these beings as demonic spirits working signs and gathering kings for conflict. The grotesque image exposes the spiritual uncleanness behind the apparent power of the anti-God coalition.
Revelation’s frog-like unclean spirits deliberately reuse Exodus plague imagery while transforming the frogs into demonic agents that deceive and gather rulers for conflict. The later vision therefore echoes Egypt’s plague pattern but gives the image a new apocalyptic function.
