Revelation 14:2–3
Revelation 14:1–5 shows the Lamb on Mount Zion with 144,000 who bear the divine name, sing a new song, follow the Lamb, and are called firstfruits unto God and the Lamb. Their purity and truthful speech portray faithful allegiance in contrast to the deceptive worship system of chapter 13. The scene presents the redeemed as belonging wholly to the Lamb.
Revelation 14:2–3 strongly echoes the Psalter’s harp-and-new-song praise, especially Psalm 33:2–3 and related new-song texts. The heavenly worship scene therefore stands inside an established biblical vocabulary of stringed praise and renewed song before God.
Revelation 14:2–3 strongly echoes Psalm 149:1–3 through the combination of new song, gathered saints, Zion setting, and instrumental praise. The Psalm helps supply the worship vocabulary for Revelation’s redeemed community before the Lamb.
Psalm 144:9 likely contributes to Revelation 14:2–3’s new-song and stringed-instrument imagery, though Psalms 33, 98, and 149 provide stronger parallels. The psalm belongs to the wider source field for Revelation’s redeemed worship rather than standing as the sole background.
