Psalms 141:2
The worshiper asks that prayer rise before God like incense and lifted hands like the evening offering. Revelation 5:8 strongly develops the prayer/incense imagery, while Revelation 8:3–4 is also relevant but its exact Psalm 141 dependence is less certain. The psalm itself presents ordinary prayer in sacrificial-temple imagery.
Revelation 5:8 probably develops Psalm 141:2’s prayer-as-incense imagery when the golden bowls of incense are explicitly identified with the prayers of the saints. The relationship is strong, while Revelation also draws on the broader temple-incense tradition.
Revelation 8:3–4 may echo Psalm 141:2 when incense and the prayers of the saints rise before God, but the scene also draws naturally from the broader tabernacle and temple incense tradition. The connection is meaningful while exact literary dependence remains uncertain.
