Zion, Creation, and the Unique Gift of God’s Word
Jerusalem praises the LORD for security, peace, food, weather, and the swift effectiveness of his command. The closing distinction is revelatory: God has made his statutes known uniquely to Israel. “Word” here refers to God’s powerful command and revealed instruction; Christian Logos theology may form a later canonical connection but should not erase the psalm’s own usage.
Psalm 147 says God sends his command to earth and that his word runs swiftly; 2 Thessalonians asks prayer that the word of the Lord may “have free course” or run and be glorified. The shared kinetic image gives the apostolic mission a vivid scriptural resonance.
